Role description

The Head of Marketing role reports to the CEO and is an integral part of the leadership team. They will lead a team of four people and be responsible for developing and delivering our marketing plans for our primary segments of parents and educators to build brand awareness, usage and engagement. They will lead the effective use of all our marketing channels including paid media and PR, as well as leveraging the relationships we have with our partners.

Responsibilities

Lead the marketing plans for our primary segments:

  • Being the leading authority on each audiences’ attitudes, needs, behaviours and concerns, influencing the products and services we offer our customers.
  • Create and implement propositions and ongoing marketing and engagement plans for the segments using appropriate channels including PR, social, email, PPC, paid social, ad credits, influencers, partner outreach.
  • Create and implement a direct to customer communications plan to drive deeper engagement and use of our products and services.
  • Build our understanding of the impact of each proposition, working with the wider team on performance reporting and audience insights.
  • Coordinate the 12-month planning calendar for both ATL and BTL communications

Manage our channels:

  • Responsibility for the paid media budget and the coordination and management of the media agency relationship.
  • Responsibility for the PR budget and the coordination and management of the PR agency relationship and our Brand Ambassador programme.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly channel performance reporting.

Manage relationships with our Partners:

  • Responsible for managing the relationships with Members/Partners/Supporters who can help Internet Matters drive greater reach.
  • Maintain continuous activation plans & reporting with Members/Corporate Partners/Supporters.
  • Maintain an asset bank for our Partners to ensure creative is used efficiently.

Look after our brand:

  • Owner of the Internet Matters brand guidelines, creative identity and tone of voice. Act as the Brand Ambassador for Internet Matters mark.
  • Deliver hero brand campaigns that serve multiple audiences.
  • Ensure consistent execution of the brand across all customer touchpoints.
  • Responsible for the creative and production of materials such as key Internet Matters reports and printed materials

Organise our events:

  • Lead the Industry Huddle event series that provides Partners with the opportunity to collaborate and network on topical issues.
  • Manage the participation and engagement in consumer events organised by IM or their partners.

Skills, knowledge and experience

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our expanding team. As we work with some of the world’s biggest brands, having some experience of working at a large organisation is a must, but you must also be willing to bring an entrepreneurial, hands-on approach and be willing to roll your sleeves up. You’ll have experience of all elements of marketing, and ideally, we would like someone who is very familiar with customer relationship marketing and digital marketing. We want you to care about our cause, whether that’s because you want to give something back to society or because you are a parent yourself.

  • Degree educated
  • Previous experience and detailed knowledge of the communications planning process
  • Some experience of Customer Relationship Management
  • Some experience of proposition development or management
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Management of creative, media and PR agencies
  • Experience of working in a large corporate organisation
  • Effective communicator managing and influencing from the most senior to the most junior
  • A great team leader that can get the best out of a small team
  • Willing to be adaptable, hand-on, and work in a start-up environment
  • A Self-motivator with strong personal time-management
  • Someone who thrives on managing multiple projects simultaneously
